This story hits the ground running. There is no overload of information to process at the beginning (a pet peeve of mine). As more and more of the story unfolds, you learn more about Ren and her "ability". Amy Richie presents an interesting take on the age of tale of mediums and spirits that seek them out.

Ren was a good main character. She's unique in her own way, and that's always something that I enjoy. As the story progresses, you are drawn into her confusion about reality and who she should really trust. I didn't find it difficult to follow along with this story, and it kept me engaged.

My major fault with this story is that ends somewhat abruptly. If this had been pieced together with the sequels, it would make a more complete and fulfilling read for me. It felt like I didn't have enough time to fully appreciate Amy Richie's talents as a writer because of the story being so short. Regardless, I cannot wait to see more works from her.

1. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) Harry Potter is my favorite books of all time. I re read them every few months. Of course Hermione makes my list.

2. Willow Bennett (Blood Vine Series) Willow is one of my own characters but she had her own story to tell and she grew and changed a lot. A fierce leader who isn’t afraid to admit she makes mistakes.

3. Jo March (Little Women) A girl after my own heart. I loved Jo the best out of the March sisters.

4. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) Anne is an amazing character, one I would like to have for a friend.

5. Charlotte Doyle (The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle) This is one of the first books I remember reading and absolutely loving. Charlotte is one of those characters that stay with you for life.

6. Karana (Island of the Blue Dolphins) Another book from my childhood. I often daydreamed about being on that island with karana.

7. Clary Fray (The Mortal Instruments) I liked Clary. She kicked ass and took names!

8. Meghan Chase (The Iron Fey) A little awkward at first, but Meghan is a strong female lead.

9. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)

10. Heaven Casteel (The Casteel Series) I love all VC Andrews books, of course, but Heaven is my favorite character.
