This is a new feature here at Pretty Little Pages where I discuss my quirky bookish habits in an effort to find out if I'm the only one!
Am I the only one who's obsessed with finding matching bookmarks to go with my books?
This may all boil down to my OCD. (That I legit have and take meds for.) But it's so amazing to either get a bookmark that matches a book I have or buy a book based on the bookmark alone. Every time I get a swag pack, I freak a bit and dig through the bookmarks first to see if I got any matches.
Am I the only one that does this?!
And should we start an illegal bookmark black market to support our habit?

I love when I find bookmarks that match my books! It makes me happy! I don't really go out of my way to find them because I never really thought about it, but it would be so amazing if there was a place to buy matching bookmarks.
ReplyDeleteI know it makes me sound crazy, but I'd pay for matching bookmarks to some of my favorite books!
DeleteI kind of love this, even though I don't do that myself. I have some set bookmarks that I tend to rotate between the books I'm reading...

I have a set that I use, but I immediately toss those aside if I have a matching one! It's an addiction!
DeleteI love when I have bookmarks to match my books. I don't seek them but if it happens I get super excited.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one! :)
DeleteI am totally like that too! Especially lately. It all started when I got this Gayle Forman "All The Feels" bookmark with an ARC of I Was Here that a blogger kindly sent me. Then I got bookmark matchin book crazy. And then I see pretty bookmarks on Twitter and I'm just like "Omggg, torture. I want them all". Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI am all for the illegal bookmark black market.

We seriously need to start this bookmark black market! I've been tempted to email or tweet some of my favorite authors and ask for bookmarks to match my copies.
DeleteI hate bookmarks, I don't know why but I never use them, I usually just grab anything to shove into a book and hold my place. I also don't like clutter so I don't usually collect swag unless it's special to me for some reason.

I totally get this. I usually don't like swag because of the clutter. But I love tucking the bookmark into the book and having it. I can count on one hand the swag I've kept that isn't a bookmark.
DeleteI just created some bookmarks for my upcoming fantasy novel and I LOVE them! I was shocked at how many people really dug the bookmarks when I handed them out at a convention. One person just wanted to buy the bookmark!
ReplyDeleteBookmark addiction is real, my friend! Best piece of swag and marketing you can have for conventions!
DeleteOh no, you aren't! I don't always have matching bookmarks, but I do have a bookmark collection of bookmarks I have gathered over the years, and I do love those. I don't know why I have so many, but honestly, I have all the bookmarks. It makes me so happy ^^
ReplyDeleteEep! A girl after my own heart! It just gives me a huge sense of happy to get a match!
DeleteOh my goodness. You enabler! Hahaha. This is seriously amazing. I'm glad it's the same on the author end of the spectrum!
ReplyDeleteI have to say no... but only because I wouldn't want to fold such pretty bookmarks over. See, I have this whole thing where I need bookmarks to fold, because I need to mark where I was reading AND where I was going to stop. If I can't do that, it makes me crazy, even though I sometimes read past my planned stopping point.
ReplyDeleteSo... yeah. I guess I have my own brand of obsessiveness on bookmarks, and I focus on that rather than on matching :D
I kind of do the same thing! But I could never fold a bookmark. I just leave a finger between where I'm reading and where I want to get to before I think about stopping!
