Feature and Follow #7: Change is good!

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How have your reading habits changed in the past few years? Did you get interested in a new genre? Do you read more? Less? Why do you think your habits changed, if they did.

My reading habits have definitely changed. Whenever I was a kid and even in high school, I stuck to classics. Shakespeare was a big one that I always read. Poe was a master at scaring my younger self. The Brontë sisters dominated my bookshelf. As I've gotten older, I've discovered how great the YA and NA genres are. Oldies are goodies, but so are newer books. There are too many great stories and authors out there to restrict yourself to one certain genre or sub-genre.

  1. Hopping through. That's so cool that you read classics so much. I wish I did more of that.

  2. Agreed! Too many great books out there to stick to one genre, even if the classics are awesome. :D Happy Friday!

  3. Poe! Bronte! Austen! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I fell in love with Shakespeare when I was 12 and read all the comedies and then the tragedies later on. Chaucer and his tales were great, too. But then I also loved historical romance in high school. And then paranormal and paranormal romance in college. Who am I kidding...I love to read! :)

  4. I too read classics and literary fiction for most of my life. (I have a degree in Eng Lit) And then a little book called Twilight happened - which I read because my oldest daughter wanted to read it, so I had to check it out - and my 'literary' horizons expanded. :) And you're so right...there are so many good books out there you just can't restrict yourself to one genre. :) Happy Friday, Kristen!

    1. Preach! I'd credit the Southern Vampire Mysteries and Harry Potter for breaking my classics curse. I realized there's more to reading than drafty castles, petticoats, and antiquated script. :) Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Goodreads/blogging totally opened my eyes to YA, too. I still struggle to explain to my guy that just because it says YA doesn't mean it isn't for a mid-twenties (or older!) person!

  7. Funny, I always hated reading classics. I always wanted to be reading one of my paranormals. Then my senior year in high school I read The Count of Monte Cristo and loved it! It is like one of the only classics I've ever loved reading. Other than Dracula of course!

  10. I was the same way! I was all about classics and adult books and now YA seems to be the favorites. When I was in high school (besides Harrry Potter) I would be caught dead reading something meant for my age range, but not anymore!

    Happy FF! Old follower.

  11. Ever since I've became a blogger, 3 months ago, I've become a big fan of YA! Most YA Fantasy, oh and new releases. Before I read mostly books that have been around. It's crazy the effect the book community has had on my reading habits.

    1. Until I started blogging, I never paid attention to the new releases shelf at the library. Now, it's my first stop. The hype on blogs gets me interested in a lot more books than I would have read before!

Thanks for stopping by, doll! Totally spaced on the code. It's there now. :)

  16. I've never really been much into classics before, but after reading some books assigned in school, I've come to find that some of them are actually pretty good! It was fun to test out other genres and I'm hoping that blogging will help me do that more. :) Have a great weekend!
